Case Study:  Restaurant Walk-in Cooler Tile Flooring

TEC technical service was brought in to restore the quarry tile floor of the walk-in cooler in a popular fast food restaurant. The cooler’s floor had become thick with greasy residue, food stains and black sticky spots. Despite use of traditional harsh, corrosive cleaning products, the floor retained dirt and contaminants, which increases the risk of employee slip-and-falls.

TEC® Microbial Daily Floor Cleaner tackled this challenge head-on, working its magic in just 30 minutes. After one application per label directions, the decades-old floor looked brand new, and the cooler smelled refreshingly clean. Since Microbial Daily Cleaner is free from hazardous ingredients and fumes, and is highly effective even at the cooler’s brisk 36ºF, there was no risk to the stored food, environment or person applying it. Used regularly, Microbial Daily Cleaner prevents residue build-up and helps minimize slip-and-fall risks for employees. Incredibly, the tile’s stained grout was restored from black back to its original gray.

Case Study:  Health Club Tennis Court Renovation 

For the renovation of a large health club’s 1970’s-era tennis courts, the flooring contractor encountered a major hurdle when it was discovered the courts were built over an asphalt parking lot. The court’s sub-flooring was directly adhered to the asphalt, and traditional cleaning methods were unable to remove the stuck-on layer. After assessing the situation, TEC technical service found that the oils from the asphalt had leached into the substrate, causing the difficulties. 

Fast acting TEC® Microbial Wax and Cutback Adhesive Remover provided exactly the right properties, breaking down the petroleum-based contaminants so they could be rinsed away from the sub-floor. Our TEC® Microbial Acrylic Adhesive Remover effectively attacked stuck-on water-based adhesive contaminants. 

Both microbial products remediated the substrate’s surface with non-caustic, environmentally friendly formulations – unlike traditional harsh removers that leave behind harmful residues that inhibit new bonding. After drying overnight, the surface was ready for the new floor installation. With no shot blasting or grinding necessary, TEC Microbials enabled the contractor to save between 50-70% in labor costs.

Case Study:  Sports Floors in Two Midwestern High Schools

Two midwestern high schools’ gymnasium floors were transformed with TEC Microbial Cleaners. Both school floors faced contaminant issues, rendering the spaces unsafe. One school had a slippery rubber floor, while the other’s vinyl floor suffered from a bumpy, slippery “orange peel” texture. Despite numerous attempts with conventional cleaners, nothing had worked to clean the surfaces.

At the first school, TEC® Microbial Rubber Floor Deep Cleaner restored the slippery rubber floor to safety. TEC Tech Support guided school custodians to apply cool water as a first step, since so much detergent residue had accumulated on the floor. Then they were directed to agitate the microbial cleaner three times during the cleaning process.

Without harmful chemicals or fumes, the TEC Microbial effectively cleaned and deodorized the school’s floor, by breaking down the contaminants, waxes and previous detergent residuals to be washed away. After drying, the rubber floor was fully restored, saving the school from the costly replacement of the flooring.

Case Study:  Assisted Living Facility Carpet

In a large assisted living facility, the carpet in the common area and entryway had stains that traditional rug shampoos could not remove. Our CRI-approved TEC® Microbial Carpet Cleaner was applied in the common area, eliminating long-embedded stains and odors.
